About one month ago, a viral wart began forming on the sole of my right foot due to some virus infection. And it did not seem much as a threat then as I did not feel any pain, and I took it for granted. I played soccer at school and even played barefooted on the beach once, totally ignoring it. Days unknowingly flew by as I led my daily life. I could notice the wart growing bigger but it still did not bother me much.
It was until the wart worsened that I felt the pain as I walk each day, so I decided to see a doctor at a polyclinic. However, he said I had to approach a skin specialist for treatment to remove it. Two weeks ago on 3rd January, I was referred to the dermatology clinic at Changi Hospital in Simei and the treatment started on that very day. It was quite a tedious process where they had to slowly scrape off the outer layer of the skin where the wart grows. Then there was the next procedure, the freezing treatment where liquid nitrogen was sprayed directly on the wart. I felt tremendous pain.
Two weeks passed and here comes...my second dreaded treatment, which was done few hours ago today! This time it was even more painful, the treatment was longer as it was done by a different doctor, he was very patient and tried his best to remove the whole wart at one go so I need not go back in future to undergo the painful process again. It seemed he has removed most of the wart. Hopefully, it would be my last time visiting the hospital for the treatment and the remaining wart will drop off by the effects of the liquid nitrogen as soon as possible.
This unforgettable experience would forever be etched in my mind to remind me to change my attitude. I have learned that I should not take small matters for granted as they will slowly become a big problem!
